Easy Vegan Pesto

This pesto is so speedy to make, and in my opinion fresh pesto always tastes so much better than out of a jar! All you need is a few simple ingredients, a blender or food processor and something delicious to cover in it.


  • 50g basil (a large handful)
  • 100g pine nuts
  • 100ml olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic (or 2 if you’re a garlic fiend like me)
  • juice of one lemon
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • a good pinch of both salt and pepper


  • This couldn’t be easier, add all of your ingredients to a food processor or blender, and blend up until everything is combined and just about smooth, I like mine a little chunky still but you can customize it however you like!

My favourite, and probably the most obvious way to have this is stirred through a big bowl of pasta, with a few cherry tomatoes mixed in and a large handful of rocket on the side.

It also goes really nicely dolloped on top of homemade hummus.
